Privacy policy

This English version is provided for convenience. If it differs from the Spanish version, the Spanish version prevails.

This policy explains what personal data Carmen San Areco (carmensanareco.com.ar) processes, what it's used for and what rights you have. The data controller is Facundo Mastandrea, based in the Argentine Republic. Contact: matecalipsis+csa@gmail.com.

What data we keep

• Your account data: detective name, email address and password. The password is never stored as text: it's stored encrypted with a hashing algorithm.
• If you sign in with Google: your name, your email and your Google account identifier. Google also sends your profile picture, but we don't store or use it. We don't access your contacts, emails or files.
• Game data: cases played, progress, scores, achievements, places and facts discovered, and plays used per day.
• Payment data (if you buy a pass or subscribe): plan, amount, payment status, the Mercado Pago transaction identifier and, for the subscription, the Mercado Pago account email you provided. We don't store card details: payments are made on Mercado Pago.
• Technical data: the session (through a cookie), the IP address and server logs needed for security and to detect errors or abuse.

What we use it for

• Creating and maintaining your account and logging you in (with email and password or with Google).
• Saving your progress, calculating scores and showing the rankings.
• Processing purchases and subscriptions and crediting the passes you paid for.
• Recovering your password and answering your questions.
• Protecting the service: limiting login attempts, preventing fraud and cheating, and fixing errors.

We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising and there are no third-party ads in the game.

What other players see

Your detective name and your scores appear in the rankings, visible to other logged-in players. Your email address isn't shown to anyone. If you don't want to appear under your real name, use a nickname as your detective name.

Who it's shared with

Only with the providers needed for the game to work, which process the data on our behalf:

• Railway (hosting of the site and the database, on servers in the United States).
• Cloudflare (domain name resolution).
• Google, only if you choose to sign in with your Google account.
• Mercado Pago, only if you buy a pass or subscribe; the payment is also governed by Mercado Pago's policies.

Since some of these providers are outside Argentina, your data may be stored in other countries. We may also disclose data if a competent authority requires it under the law.

Cookies

We only use a session cookie, needed to keep you logged in. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account is active. If you ask to close it, we delete your account and your game data; payment records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction, update or deletion of your data, and the closure of your account, by writing to matecalipsis+csa@gmail.com from your account email. We reply within the time limits of Argentine Law 25,326 on Personal Data Protection.

The data subject has the right to access their personal data free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless a legitimate interest is shown, as established in article 14, section 3 of Law No. 25,326. The Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública, as the supervisory body of Law No. 25,326, is empowered to handle complaints and claims from anyone whose rights are affected by non-compliance with the personal data protection rules in force.

Minors

The game is suitable for all ages. If you're under 13, use it with the permission and supervision of your parent or guardian, who can also ask us to close your account.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and restricted access to the database. No system is infallible: if we detect an incident affecting your data, we'll let you know.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date above and, if the change is significant, we announce it on the site. See also the terms and conditions.
